GMCS Dairies - Day 3 - 28th Nov 2012

Well the day was different but expectations and proceedings were already anticipated in advance and we were all already prepared as to how the day would go as the faculty would be same as yesterday, so with preconceived mindset the room was occupied with monotonous atmosphere, which was eased by adding flavor by our new found friends

The day begun by assessing of CV writing assignment on which we showed unity by not adhering to prepare CV...Well that’s how we guys display Unity...Ha-ha...And then we were imparted “gyaan” on do’s and don’ts while looking for and applying for the job. We were shown a clip which made us understand the nuances of doing our homework before and during the job hunting exercise. The process could be listed as:-

1. Research the job
2. Time to get clean.
3. Attention & appearance
4. Be punctual
5. First Impression
6.  Body Language
7. Listen
8. Maintain your professionalism
9.  References
10.  Exit Gracefully

The above points were made much more meaningful by showing us video clips and also by our mentor explaining how the above points should be understood and applied and also on what aspects we would be evaluated upon:

• Appearance
• Speech Mannerism
• Self Confidence
• Consistency
• Response time

After making us all go through the above areas which would lead us to the desk of the interviewer we were then acquainted with the questions which we would be bombarded upon by the interviewer. We were given an exhaustive list of 30 questions which the interviewer would grill us upon.

Also we were given a set of questions which we as an employee could ask depending on prevailing scenarios in an interview.

We were done with the day which clearly sent us a message that 80% of communication is non verbal (Gestures, Body Language). With all the learning imparted, we understood that we individuals will not only be judged on our technical ability basis but also on the basis of how we carry ourselves.

We would admit the fact that though bitter gourd is not nice in flavor but it surely is effective the same applied to our mentor also. She was clear cut in her approach and made us believe that “It only takes a little more effort and we would see ourselves beyond the horizon”

As all good things come to an end… the time spent with the mentor was captured in a photograph to make us remind that our body’s every part plays a important role in shaping our career and personality.

With twinkle in our eyes we left for the day to come back tomorrow for a whole hearted laugh with our new friends and also to nourish our knowledge…

GMCS Dairies - Day 2 - 27th Nov 2012

Every day is new and we all look forward to it in our own perspective. One such day was today where when we entered into the class we noticed a lady sitting before the scheduled time, aghast and questioned if she would be the faculty for today and the reply was in affirmative. Her name is Madhu Sharma.

One thing I must admit that the first look and I said to myself, dude this is not going to be easy today, and I got my premonition right. The class took off with full force and rules were set forth which indicated that activities needed to be took seriously and there would be no lee way, be it dressing or Time. We need to abide by it.

We were imparted the importance of case study solving and the relevance and importance in today’s ever changing corporate world and for this we were split into 4 Groups, it felt as if, without wasting any time let’s get into the business.

We were given a description of Case study were asked to present it after discussing it with our group. We all presented it but as they say Team effort is the driving force and we need to sell our skills as that is what we get paid for and evaluated upon. Everyone has skill but its how you showcase it, fetches you an edge over others. Just like every dish needs to be garnished to bring forth an appealing showcase, even our talent & skill needs the same treatment.

After being done with the Case study solving we were given a lecture on CV writing where many old customary practices and techniques went for a toss as they were no more prevalent in today’s scenario. We learnt the importance of conveying much in a shorter span of time and creating a fantastic impression in first instance, as we don’t get second chance to create a first impression.

In between all these activities, at regular intervals we were given an insight into our mentor’s life and how she has transformed herself into an extraordinary consultant by rising against the odds and infusing a sense of carrying ourselves in a more dynamic manner and not settle for anything less.

We were done with our second day of GMCS early as we cut down on our lunch and breakfast time. As envisaged, time had been the most sought after element in today’s batch.

We would be having the same faculty tomorrow also, as some crucial aspects of GMCS module should be in successive period to maintain the momentum.

Wondering what the day has in store for us tomorrow…

General Management & Communication Skills (GMCS) Diaries - Introduction - Day 1

Friendship and bonding find their origin from the word Stranger. As they say yesterday you were strangers but today at this moment, a bond holds them together. Such is the essence of a group of people. One such amazing group is what we were a part of today. Yes it is our GMCS Batch No 47 of CIRC Ghaziabad 

Knowledge is what we all aspire for but when it is shared among a group it surpasses the piles of books put together. Such is the journey which we, as a group of amazing people took off piloted by some never ending enthusiastic people (Faculty).

This group constitutes of experienced people to people from various walks of life and this plethora of experience when infused within the group can shape one’s life & personality dramatically.

Let’s be all together and be in touch through whatever means we could. As they say, “Let’s be together and cherish these bonding for a lifetime.”

GMCS Day 1 - 26th Nov 2012

 

It was 9’o clock and the people were ready flocking the Chapter for their first day of GMCS. Yes it was a weird feeling as most of us were not in a mood to sit there for 7 hours and that too for the next 15 days.

We witnessed groups of similar students some hailing from Meerut, Modinagar and Delhi. Everyone was seen visualizing as to what the day holds for us and was eager to know how the faculty would be. After the initial routine of filling up GMCS forms, we after a while took our seats in the room. Shortly we were welcomed by CA Puneet Sakhuja GMCS Chairman Ghaziabad and he infused some energy in the room with some witty talks and a bit of introduction which relieved the monotonous atmosphere prevailing in the room.

We were informed that our First day would be conducted by CS Govind Mishra sir. Well we all must admit the moment he entered into the class and the time we were done with the first day, we all were so tuned into his talks that everyone’s reaction was “Faculty badiya hai yaar, bore nahi hue”, inki class phir kab hai”. Seldom we find faculty who makes the group feel at ease and motivates everyone of us by making us believe that “we as everyone is unique”. Our group comprised of people from various walks of life and we were amazed as we had some experienced people among us who showed their persistence and hard work and reflected that “Nothing is impossible no matter whatever your age could be”

Our first day was aimed at Introduction, Value of our profession and how we should carry it equipped with our behavioral aspects and most importantly communication. Then it was followed with “Group Discussion” methodology, we were made to participate in GD and were monitored and corrected at every step by our esteemed faculty. 

Knowledge can easily be absorbed if it imbibes in it an element of humor, and our faculty was a master of such skill set. A teacher is one who teaches the most difficult part in such a way that it no more perceived as difficult.

At the end of the day the sub groups dissolved and we all were captured into a photograph with the energy fountain between us (Govind Sir).

Truly we were so happy and would love to be a part of next day which holds another surprise for us...

"Perspective"

For some, chilled water is all they need in scorching heat...For others, even the air conditioner cooling is not enough.

For some, basic course meal is what they need to satisfy their hunger...For others even a four course meal is not enough.

For some, basic necessity is a must...For others, even the luxury is termed as below necessity.

For some, people are the only assets they possess...For others, they are only an option.

For some, a sheath of cloth is sufficient to be protected from chill...For others, even a heater would be not enough.

For some, money is source of livelihood...For others, money is often a scarce resource.

For some, a delicious meal may be not good...For others, it is something which is long cherished.

For some, the world is not enough...For others, a single soul is the world.

For some, rain may be a spoilsport...For others, it is their means of livelihood.

For some, respect is nothing...For others, it is the only thing they have earned.

For some, loyalty is nothing...For others, it is the only virtue they yearn for.

For some, their happiness lies in immovable (property)...For others only their 
faith is immovable.

For some, a smile may be just a gesture...For others, it is something that heals the relationship.

For some, care and love may be indebtness...For others, it is the only prized possession.

For some, hard work is often a stroke of luck...For others, it is their inseparable characteristic.

For some, old age may be a burden...For others, it is the bar of experience.

For some, tears are just drops of water...For others, it is the wound of the heart.

For some, these lines may just be a common thought...For me, it is something straight from the heart… :)

जब मैं नहीं था वो तब भी थी ,

कोख़  में भी जो पाले वो सिर्फ माँ ही है...
हर परिस्थिति  में जो संभाले वो भी सिर्फ माँ ही है...

ग़म और दर्द में वो खुश तब भी थी,

अपने बच्चों की ख़ुशी में वो खुश आज भी है...

बच्चों की ख़ुशी के लिए वो न्योछावर तब भी थी,

बच्चों की खुशाम्दगी के लिए वो तत्पर आज भी है...

कन्धों पर अपने वो हमे तब भी संभालती थी,

ग़म के बावज़ूद दिल में हमे वो आज भी संभालती  है...

होठों पे दुआ और आँखों में ख़ुशी उसके तब भी थी,

जीवन में उन्नत्ति  करते देख हमे वो खुश आज भी है...

उसके आँचल का साया निर्मल तब भी था,

उसके सिर पर हाथ सहलाना कोमल आज भी है...

नटखट शरारतों से वो खुश तब भी थी,                          

दुखदायी हरकतों से वो चुप आज भी है...

बिन कहे वो आहट  महसूस तब भी कर लेती थी,

न बोले वो सब कुछ बयान आज भी कर देती है...


ईश्वर का पर्यायवाची भी माँ ही है,
ईश्वर की अनुकम्पा का  स्त्रोत  भी माँ ही है...



निस्स्वार्थ  का अर्थ तब भी माँ था,
करुणा का भाव आज भी माँ है...

मानवता में वो तब भी थी,

आत्मा में वो आज भी है...

माँ तब भी माँ थी,
माँ आज भी माँ है...माँ आज भी माँ है... माँ आज भी माँ है...
