"EMU Diaries" - Day 12

Day 12– April 13, 2012

Good night sleep lets you experience a sound quiet morning without any blues. But who knew that whenever I try to get myself in time it drizzles and rains…seems like god teases me every alternate morning…God works in his own mysterious ways…With such worry in morning I got ready and proceeded towards yet another insightful day…Life is a continuous learning process…

GZB-DEL

Reached station and boarded the routine bogie only to find that all seats were taken. Now this was where the real problem began…Got into the last seat of the bogie and settled only to be resisted by some folks that there friends would be coming shortly…but they allowed us to be seated…Every person has a stake in public property… Within minutes some heavy duty guys came and got their bums adjusted into inches of space spared for air passing…One of the guy when asked why he is so grumpy got answered that his mind his not in center as he had a tiff at home. Keep distance from a wounded lion and a stressed man… To lighten the mood they took out playing cards and were confused about space mgmt., that’s when I swapped seats to let them play. In less space and with lots of abusive words they made use of available time and space…to top that they lighted bidis (younger brother of cigarette)…Smoking is injurious to health issued in interest of self and public…

We all got up only to be sympathized by an old man that sorry for the inconvenience…well life teaches you a lesson first then prepares you for future…Meanwhile everyone around was winking at us gesturing that it’s a routine affair for passive smokers to be ousted by them… Amidst all this, bhajan camp was busy in chanting…simply sending out the message that don’t lose your identity & cool amidst all the worldly chaos… Why would anyone spoil their morning trying to confront some morons…?

Within few minutes got off at my place thinking that why people in this world behave in a manner in which they would never like to be treated into...?. Proceeded towards my class with yet another WHY?

DEL-GZB

Reached the platform with a sweet tooth as we were given sweets for New Year (Nepali 2069) in our class. Every day is indeed a new one but still we attach special importance to a new year… Greeted with loads of dusty winds to remind us that along with good moments, bad moments come unattended… Well we were happy that weather was cool and pleasant…It’s always seeing the glass half full rather than half empty…

Well the train also arrived almost on time. Got seated and had lunch with friends. Food and problems tend to have a different perspective when shared… Memories were brought alive by us when we started remembering our childhood days…

The mischief we had done…,
The cheer we had on our face…,
The pure soul that we had…,
The time when hatred was not permanent…,
The fights with siblings which were enjoyed…,
The scolding of parents which we never minded…,
Rules which applied only to games we had played…,
The beautiful time, when the world seemed to be a lovely place to live in…

Well with such thoughts got down at my place and proceeded towards my home thinking that why we had forgotten the trait of innocence and why we had put a cloak of ignorance…?

"EMU Diaries" - Day 11

Day 11– April 12, 2012

Aaarrrggghh…. Got up @ 2.25 AM as my fan was singing a lullaby…thanks to low voltage…:( Anyways didn’t waste my time and did justice to sleeping hours and lied on bed as if I am following a ritual of getting only at predetermined time… Was a bit relaxed as it was my friends turn to ride the bike till station… Try enjoying little things; they give much pleasure than the big ones...

GZB-DEL

Reached the station in the nook of the time, sometimes enjoying leisure time can have its consequences… As usual boarded the train and got seated, turned a new leaf as I decided to study for few minutes utilizing the time as exams were fast approaching…Time and tide wait for none…(Well even the exams also). Noticed a man distributing his relative’s marriage invitation to his fellow passengers…Sometimes a simple journey daily, paves way for life long relationships… A lady seated opposite was lost in her thoughts to such an extent that she didn’t even notice her husband’s call, Worry is like a rocking chair, it keeps you swinging but takes you nowhere…

Bhajan camp were doing their daily ritual…Consistency is an asset often undervalued…Within few minutes all I can see was people taking a nap…almost everyone seemed to be drunk… Thanks to IPL T-20, enjoying the 4's and 6's, people sleep for hours less than 4 or 6… Entertainment and health need to strike a right balance…excess of everything is not good…Demonstration effect does not apply only to personal needs it has its impact on sleep also…

A strong jolt by the train brought everyone back to hard reality and everybody woke up to find themselves among other sleeping beauties… Got down at station wondering how much do we take care of our health in these times???

DEL-GZB

Well reached the station panting only to find that, it had effect only on my health and had no effect on train driver as he was consistent in being late… Discussed about cuisines from various part of the country, whatever be the cuisines, language and attributes, at the end of the day we are all IndiansPeople were busy looking out for drinking water as the weather was warm today…got reminded that it’s the same people who waste water in their washrooms and other activities…Water is always the elixir of life…

Train arrived and got seated and had lunch…noticed a women running and catching the train with her child…Quickly got into the bogie and wiped her child’s sweat…Its always the child first for a mother, no matter what situation she might be in… Fed the child and saved water for her child as bottle was about to get emptied had she consumed the water, but she first let the child have it and then she had the left over… Selfless soul is always a mother… 2 persons were busy completing their office work in the train as they were planning to go home early after reaching office, making hay while the sun shines…

Within few minutes of my observation reaching dead end, got down at my destination and proceeded towards my home pondering that Mother is an almighty in disguise on this planet

"EMU Diaries" - Day 10

Day 10– April 11, 2012

What a refreshing start to the day…Raining all the night and drizzling continuing till morning…but I was a bit tensed as I needed to look out for my raincoat which was seldom sought after quitting my job :( Anyways rain god heard my cries once again and cooperated with me…yes God does exists… all through my way I kept wondering that human beings mood also syncs with the weather…cool, calm, hot and chilled :)

GZB-DEL

Well reaching station on time has indeed become a habit for me, Good habits seldom gets noticed by people but bad ones keep on haunting you…the same way a goal keeper is not appreciated for goal saved but goals missed…Reality bites… Driver seemed to be in good mood and was also on time…Good job driver…A word of appreciation goes miles… Settled on a seat and people started to flow into the bogie…Window seat were left vacant as it had water droplets…Reminded me that like a fault or shortcoming in a person sometimes makes him neglected, the same way nobody thought of cool breeze from window but rather streamlined their thoughts to the dampness… Thoughts have also become based on selective approach nowadays…

At one of the interim stations an old age couple boarded the train…I couldn’t turn away my eyes from them. Looking at them in tattered clothes, no footwear and limited visibility I pondered why???? Infact they also didn’t get seated on the wooden planks…fear of the society or neglected by society? Old lady kept on staring at me as if she wanted to convey that we old age disowned parents deserve upliftment… Made me realize that why we had always heard about old age homes and not young age homes??? Because parents always accept and never expect… Old man asked for directions to his place which a person readily replied to whereas a young lad with his girl friends turned deaf as if the old man would rob him or infect him…

With such social thoughts taking their turns in my mind, I got off the train & proceeded to my class pondering that life is not always about possessing money, fame and belongings; it’s about how you put them to underprivileged use…

DEL-GZB

Reached the platform and cool breeze made me forgot the time…may be for this I didn’t wear a watch today… Noticed a boy loving his grandmother and hugging her repeatedly, unconditional love is a forgotten affair… Nobody complained about the train delay as if the world itself is everyone’s home no matter wherever you stay… Why did I notice love everywhere today as again I saw a young couple conversing discreetly… Whether events are good or bad sometimes do depend upon weather

Whenever we feel bad why we don’t look at good things …in the same manner when we have a cup of hot tea when we experience cool breeze…and a cold coffee when the weather is hot… Amidst the gusting wind, heard a hustling train arriving. Got into the bogie and had my lunch with friends discussing our past with one another. Concluded that no one is perfect in any occasion and indeed this imperfection motivates us to a better future ahead…

Got off at my destination with some added responsibilities towards society’s underprivileged and neglected segment on my mind. Just as rain washes the dirt from leaves the same way inner cleansing of soul happens when you contribute to the society…

"EMU Diaries" - Day 9

Day 9– April 10, 2012

Got up in a mechanical state of mind where the body does all the work and mind seemed to be sleeping… Well it happens with all those souls who whose living life depends on another non living object (read as train & its timings…) .With all the weapons (calculator, water bottle, helmet etc.) I left my place to fight yet another battle…

GZB-DEL

Reached station and found train had still not arrived…Everyday is not Sunday… and like other souls standing there like helpless creatures, I saw myself become an enquiry counter and informing about the delay and its whereabouts to people who asked me. Within few minutes train arrived and I was pushed by a passenger so hardly as if the train would depart without halting…Patience is a virtue seldom made use of by people… Train arrived and got seated after a jolt by a passenger.

A grandfather along with his grandson came and got seated nearby, got reminded of my grandfather by looking at the way he was explaining everything to his grandson… Some bonds stay forever and never relinquish…bhajan camp started their routine cause and within few minutes prasad got distributed as it was Tuesday today. Got so engrossed in admiring the grandpa and grandson bond which took me back to my old days that made me forget everything…Memories live on forever…

With reminiscence of my grandfather in my soul, got down and proceeded to my class with his teachings which was forgotten by me a long time back… Love you grandpa…

DEL-GZB

Reached the station and noticed that like the railway tracks the people waiting at the platform also were now becoming familiar to me… Discussed about some forthcoming movies which were expected to be a hit as per our analysis which was purely based on the masala factor in the film… Watching films which used to be at a nominal charge back in Y2K has indeed become a dearer investment today; thanks to the multiplex culture these days…Advancement in life has often its dire consequences…

Train arrived and got seated comfortably and shared lunch with friends…Well sharing is the real essence of friendship… Train driver seemed to be in a bad mood as he continuously hooted the whistle and maneuvered the train in a racing manner as if he is going to halt only at the end point and leave other passengers stranded. Among all this saw an old man with a nice smile pondering over something in his mind…In these stressful times it’s difficult to sport a smile even though a fake one but a natural, seems to be a tough job…

With my grandpa memories in my senses I got off at my place and noticed a police guy kicking a handicapped person for sleeping near a sign board…Anger often makes its outlet in helpless situations…

"EMU Diaries" - Day 8

Day 8– April 9, 2012

Another week had begun with much to uncover. Indeed it is this daily surprises which makes all of us to look up to an exciting day ahead full of opportunities and challenges…Was a bit relaxed as I had almost fitted in to the daily routine of train journeys…

GZB-DEL

I reached station almost on time as I was pretty much becoming accurate in time measurement. Got seated and waited for activities to happen to scribble on my blog. One can always draw inferences from any circumstance…whether good or bad…Slowly people started to settle in and look out for seats to take a short nap. Chants from opposite bogie begun to seep in my ears slowly. A woman got into the bogie and requested for allowing her to sit as she had a wounded feet and people readily obliged. Really daily worries don’t always bog down people to make them forget their kindness…

A rural lady was anxious not to miss getting down at her place as the bogie was a bit crowded but a lad in her 20’s made her comfortable by having a chat with her and made her feel at ease. There is always a silver lining somewhere in everyone… A new passenger couple was amused and happy on listening to daily hymns of the almighty in train and started to sync their lips.

Well got off at my place with a positive feel in my senses and pondered that amidst crooked ways of world there is still some humanity left in some souls…With these thoughts proceeded to my class

DEL-GZB

Reached the station and noticed that week had begun with the train delayed by 45 minutes and platform was a bit crowded compared to last few days. Some people satisfied their hunger pangs by munching on some spicy hot samosas…Really diet rules go for a toss when faced with acute hunger and limited choice…Soon announcement was made for the train arriving at a particular platform and I began to walk a bit to board at a strategically placed bogie which was ought to be less crowded.

Got settled and soon hit a conversation with a guy whom I have seen getting on and off at the same destination as of mine and also noticed him in my class. Friendship starts when one person initiates and looks beyond ego… Got engrossed so much in conversation that time flew swiftly and within no time reached my place

With one more friend in my life and few good moments to witness in morning, felt this planet is really a lovely place to live in…
